Minecraft 1.17

If the last update was dedicated to the Lower World, then Minecraft 1.17 will bring innovations to the Upper World!

At the annual MineCon 2020 conference, the developers announced the update “Caves & Cliffs” or “Caves and Cliffs”. We were promised to add major changes to the game in cave generation, new biomes, various creatures, ore and related craftable items.

New world generator

“Caves and Rocks” – that’s the name of the new version of Minecraft 1.17. We can assume that all the attention of the developers will be given to the changes in the world generation and new locations.

Karst caves

New underground biome, which is a huge overgrown caves with an advanced system of tunnels and dungeons. Inside you will find stalactites, underground water sources, blooming spores, light berries and even tiny plants.

Of course, here you can also find a new type of ore – copper. But we will tell you about it a little bit further.

Mountains and new biomes

To make the mountains in Minecraft 1.17 look bigger, the developers increased the height of the world by 64 blocks. Such a change in limits occurred for the first time in 10 years, and that can only mean one thing. There are a lot of plans for new mountain biomes!

We already know that the game will add 5 new biomes:

  • Mountain Meadows
  • snowy slopes
  • Mountain groves
  • Snowy peaks
  • High peaks

The mountains themselves will be generated as naturally as possible. You will encounter plants and trees on the approach, and mountain tops will be covered in snow. By the way, a new block has been added to Minecraft 1.17 Bedrock Edition – loose snow, which has varying heights and slows movement.

No global Minecraft update can be imagined without adding new creatures to the game. We already know, that in Minecraft 1.17 there will be 4 unique creatures.

Mountain goat

The first new creature you will have to meet in the game, if you decide to download Minecraft 1.17 for Android. Mountain goats will inhabit the very tops of the mountains, they have reduced damage from falling, and therefore are not afraid of heights.

Mountain goat attacks will throw the player to a small height, and the animals themselves will try in every way to push you off the mountain. And if they crash into a tree or die, they will drop their horns.

Glowing octopus

A glowing octopus

The water world in Minecraft 1.17 Caves and Rocks isn’t left out either. If you dive under the water, you will be able to notice a moving source of light, and when you concentrate your gaze, you will realize that it’s a glowing squid – a new mob of future update.

By the way, the glowing octopus is the winner of the MineCon 2020 vote, which was chosen directly by the players.

Such octopuses are the source of a bag of glowing ink, an item needed to craft illuminated tablets.

The caretaker

The Warden is a mob that will appear in underground caves and attack particularly noisy players. Perhaps the Acoustic Sensor, capable of picking up noise, will appear in the game for this very purpose.

Guardian, this is the first creature in Minecraft that has no eyes and is blind. It will navigate by sound and follow the source of noise.

The cutest mob of the upcoming Cave and Rock update is an ambystome larva, capable of not transforming into an adult form. Despite being neutral to the player, the axolotl will attack guards, drowners, and other fish.

By downloading Minecraft 1.17 you will be able to tame an axolotl of any color.

Copper ore

Copper ore

Inside the mountains and caves, veins of copper ore will begin to be generated. This is a new metal added to the game for the first time in 12 years. Besides, copper ore is the first dynamical unit in the game, that is capable to oxidize and change the color with time.

Melting the copper ore will produce ingots necessary for crafting new building blocks and lightning rod. Beeswax can be used for protection against oxidation.

New items and blocks

New biomes, mobs, ore, but what about items? Of course they will be added in Minecraft 1.17, and some of them are already known!

Capelite, stalactites and stalagmites
